Rules

Rules work like Payment method rules:
When [all / any] of these are true … Then [hide / only offer] [shipping methods]
  • Hide removes the methods when the conditions match.
  • Only offer shows the methods only when the conditions match.
  • Rules only ever remove methods, so their order doesn’t matter.
For the methods, pick one method in one zone, or a method type such as Any Flat rate to cover every flat rate.

Conditions

Examples

  • Heavy items don’t ship free. When all of these are true: Shipping class is any of Heavy. Then hide Free shipping.
  • Express only over $100. When all of these are true: Cart total is more than 100. Then only offer Express.

Rates update straight away

When you change a product’s category, shipping class, type, or virtual or downloadable setting, and your rules use that condition, shoppers’ cached shipping rates are refreshed so the rules apply straight away. This refreshes everyone’s rates once, so live carrier rates are fetched again. Imports that write to the database directly don’t trigger this. Re-save a product, or wait for WooCommerce to refresh rates.

Saving

A rule without methods, or with a condition missing its value, isn’t saved. If the rules can’t be read when saving (a broken browser request), your saved rules are kept.
